SoundStake Quick Start Guide

Fast, secure, and frustration-free installations 

 

1. What You’ll Need

• Impact driver (impact wrench)
• Deep, impact-rated 1″ socket
• SoundStake (comes ready to use out of the box)

2. Prep the Area

1. Choose the location for the speaker.
2. Clear away large rocks or debris from the installation area.
Caution: debris can spray outward during installation.
3. Position the SoundStake perpendicular to the ground at your desired installation location.

3. Install the SoundStake

1. Attach the deep, impact-rated, 1″ hex socket to your impact driver.
2. Place the socket over the hex head of the SoundStake. Ensure the socket is seated completely onto the hex head; it should rest atop the SoundStake Ground Plate.
3. Squeeze the trigger; maintain firm downward pressure on the impact driver; let the driver do the work.
Note: Start with the low speed setting on your impact driver; experiment with other speeds if desired.
4. In about 3 seconds, the SoundStake will twist securely into the ground.
5. Stop driving the SoundStake into the ground when the Ground Plate begins compressing the ground. The ground plate and blades compress the soil to create a strong, stable hold.
Caution: driving your SoundStake too deep into the ground can cause damage to the SoundStake.
Caution: not seating your deep socket all the way onto the SoundStake hex head can result in damage to the SoundStake.
6. Check to see if the SoundStake is level by using a bubble level on the Ground Plate or across the hex head. Alternatively, place a bubble level on the horizontal surface of your impact driver and adjust the level of SoundStake as you drive it into the ground.

4. Mount Your Fixture

1. Feed your speaker’s pigtail speaker wire through the top of the SoundStake hex head and out the cable routing hole at the base of the hex head. Warning: pulling the cable through the hole will chafe the cable.
2. Thread your speaker (or adapter) onto the SoundStake.
3. Hand-tighten until secure.
4. Use a jam nut to aim the speaker as desired. 

5. Tips for Best Results

1. Use an impact driver only. Drills may not deliver enough torque, or may deliver too much torque and cause injury to the installer.
2. Make sure to use a deep socket so the tool seats fully.
3. To remove the SoundStake, simply reverse the impact driver and back the SoundStake out.
4. Apply a dielectric compound to the threads to help prevent corrosion due to moisture.
